Agave Plein Air Sketch

So, I have been trying my hand at Urban sketching as I said a few days ago. I have all my set up right now, but still ironing out the kinks. I found sketching this at a Bus stop here in Tucson, AZ was both fun and exciting but difficult. I need to get used to all the natural and man-made obstacles involved in this process. However, I do love the loose feel of this sketch. And I really wanted to capture the idea that this Agave had some pink in the points which I do not often see. Hope you enjoy this new adventure I am on these days.

Through the Window 2

This is an acrylic that I did just in the last couple of months. It is an interesting shape being 10X20. I painted this scene before, but I changed it up a bit for the second rendering of it. I am going to send this up with another I just finished today to Phoenix Art Awakenings Gallery.

Plant, Monday, October 11, 2010

This is a contour line drawing of the plant in my window that I got from a friend when Lucky passed away. The Flowers are all gone from it now, but I have managed to keep the plant alive. As I post this, I am looking out my bedroom window. I have decided to use my desk more now that I have it accessible and have begun working at it. It helps my sleep a lot because I am not doing everything in my bed, also helps my neck and shoulders because I am sitting properly. Anyway, I mention this because I am having a joyous time watching the squirrel that has taken up residence in our back storage area run back and forth across the yard in front of my window. He does not stop long enough for me to draw him, but he is delightful to watch. Praise God for little animals, windows to the world, and days off.
