Blue Morpho Butterfly, October 31, 2008

This is butterfly from the gardens at the Wild Animal Kingdom near San Diego. Here in Tucson they have the same kind of butterfly in their tropical exhibit at the Botanical Garden, but this was the first picture that I got of the butterfly with its wings open. It is hard to see, but the wings were done with iridescent medium.

Great Mormon Butterfly, Thursday, October 30, 2008

This is another butterfly from the Tucson Botantical

Colorado Mountains 2, Friday, October 24, 2008

As I am doing these 4X6s for Christmas cards, I am
trying to do two each of everything and doing them just a little different or a little the same, but learning from each one I do. It is fun and I think just good practice.

Colorado Mountains 1, Thursday, October 23, 2008

This is a view of the Great Divide in Colorado. I actually lived in Westminster for a year, but this is from a photograph of a vacation I took with my parents when I was a teenager. 4X6 Pen and watercolor.

Little Bird, Monday, October 20, 2008

Another sketch from the zoo. This had to be quick before the bird flew away in the aviary. Just got the quick pen and watercolor sketch down.

Otter Sketches, Sunday, October 19, 2008

I really love going to the zoo and watching the animals. I love nature and animals. I was working a lot before I got sick and sketching the animals at the zoo. Trying to get over the intimidation of sketching in public, mostly. I had not been for so long that I went on Sunday. I was only there for a short time, but it was exhausting on my still healing body. But these two little otters were fun to attempt to sketch as they swam around.

Andrea and Ellen, Saturday, October 18, 2008

This was my creative adventure of the day. A picture of one of my really good friends and her daughter Ellen. The picture is a year old as my friend has been waiting for it for a year. I hope she will enjoy it when she gets it. It is a much belated Birthday present. 11X15 Watercolor.

Dallas to Louisville, Wednesday, October 15, 2008

This past Summer I went on a road trip with Julie and Jesse and Anna some of the kids and their mom that I live with. This was often the view from the road. There were these colored grasses and white flowers and trees everywhere. Being from the desert, it was beautiful. But I could have done without the humidity. 4X6 Watercolor.

Purple Pansey 2, Tuesday, October 14, 2008

This is another of one of my previous paintings done over again. It is on Masa paper that was painted and then glued to watercolor paper and then painted again. The idea came from Dory Kantar's Art Escapes book. Another of my 4X6 watercolors for cards.

Desert 2 - Monday, October 13, 2008

I have decided to do some watercolor sketches as cards this year due to my financial tightness and need to find presents that are inexpensive but from me and mean something. So, I have begun the process of making 4X6 watercolors to mount and cards for Christmas. This is another of the desert scene.

Dancing Panseys - Sunday, October 12, 2008

This is on of my first semi-abstracts with panseys and leaves. It is a watercolor 11X15. I have been finding it a very hard time this week to keep up with work and health and life and painting and blogging. Work and health is all that has happened most of the time.

Jesus into the darkness, Friday, October 10, 2008

Well, for Friday (yesterday) I spent from 1pm to 1:30am in the emergency room, mostly waiting and a lot tests for my colon issues right now and being sick. I was having trouble keeping down my liquid diet food that I have been on for a couple of weeks. So now on anti spasm medication for my colon, I am trying to get through Saturday. A year or two ago on Easter I painted this when we were going through John. I was thinking of Jesus as the light coming into all the darkness of this world. With all the craziness and darkness still around, it is good to remember that Jesus still brings light and truth and healing into the world. It is a 22X30 watercolor that I actually poured with iridescent medium with watercolor in. It was fun to do.

Blue Building, Thursday, October 9, 2008

I painted this off a black and white photo and then found out that the true building here in Tucson is truly blue almost the same color that I painted this. Someone in our community actually took another photo of it. 11X15 watercolor.

Mystic - Wednesday, October 1, 2008

Elliot (the three year old that I live with) and I were talking about fall today and the leaves changing in the trees. No changing leaves in the desert much. But this is Mystic, CT close to where my sister lives. This was done off of a photo taken when I visited here one year.
