Another painting on the Aquabee sketchbook.

Prairie Dogs, Friday, November 28, 2008

I went to the Desert Museum here in Tucson on Friday to avoid the craziness of the shopping. I thought it would be less busy, but it was very crowded hard to sketch or draw anything, but I got these quick sketches of the very fat Prairie Dogs.

Thanksgiving Flowers, Thursday, November 27, 2008

These were the other Thanksgiving Flowers. This was a quick 2 minute watercolor sketch on watercolor paper.

Playful Daisey, Wednesday, November 26, 2008

I just started an Aquabee sketch journal. This is my first painting in it. The colors are all off because the scan would not work right even after photoshoping it. These were some of the Thanksgiving flowers.

The Hospital view in between praying and talking to the child I was sitting with this night.

Guy at Hospital, Tuesday, November, 18, 2008

On Wednesday, I was home sick from work, but ended up working in the evening to watch a suicidal child in the emergency room that we did not have a psych bed for. We were in the hallway of the hospital ER and this was a guy next to us. His big ears reminded me of my first boyfriend. Last night a promptly placed my journal in water and my ink smeared all over the place.

Tree Sunset 1, Monday, November 17, 2008

This was my first attempt at the bare trees. I drew all the branches. I like my second attempt where I painted them all instead of drawing them first which I will post later.

Splashy Tulips, Sunday, November 16, 2008

Brush War, Saturday, November 15, 2008

Elliot (the three year old I live with) was wanting to jump on my bed today, so he did and we had fun. Then he wanted to paint. He likes to paint at my desk in my little room. It is only really big enough to have him paint on it, but he always wants me to paint too. I have this cheep Chinese Brush set that I use with him and today he wanted to play swords with the paint brushes. He made two pretty much brown paintings before this one that we made together. He likes to mix all the paints together, but we got some color in this one. So, I tried to do some brush strokes and make some shapes and he attacked my brush with his brush and scribbled over what I was doing. Then it was just all out war of the brushes on the paper. 8.5X11 watercolor

Poppy Flower, Friday, November 14, 2008

Poppy Flower painted several years ago at the Santa Rita Abbey. It was the first painting I every did without drawing anything first.

Tubac Plant, Thursday, November 13, 2008

This was done from a photo a while back. It is on my door of inspiration because it is so colorful. It was this crazy plant in bloom that I saw in Tubac a few years back.

Pear, Wednesday, November 12, 2008

This was the day of my procedure. Nothing found to the naked eye, but lost of samples of my intestines and stomach taken to pathology to find out what is wrong with me. I slept all day this day. so this painting is from a year ago. It is a panel painting from an example out of the Art Escapes book.

Growing Potatoes, Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Tuesday was the day of the clear liquid diet and prep for the scope down and up my entire digestive system. The prep (laxative) was horrible (ginger, lemon, salt water), but I got through the day. This is a pen and wash of over grown potatoes from the drawing class about 6 months ago. This was a fast 2-3minute sketch.

Sea Shells, Monday, November 10, 2008

These are sea shells that one of my art teachers let me take home and draw. They were very fun, but the worm-like shell was a bit of a challenge. This week was a little hard health wise, so all of these are delay. I did this about 6 months ago. Pencil on paper.

Another watercolor pouring. Watercolor 4X6

Gold and Purple Pouring, Saturday, November 8, 2008

A while back I was doing a lot of watercolor pouring pictures and teaching people how to do them. I decided to isolate some of the ones I liked and and use them for my journal and card pictures. Watercolor 4X6

Snowbowl, Friday, November 7, 2008

Snowbowl in Flagstaff from the sky lift. The aspens were changing colors which was a great contrast against the evergreens. Watercolor 4X6.

Splashy Flowers, Sunday, November 2, 2008

This was also done yesterday at the Gardens. I have been reading a Workshop book of Tom Lynch and trying to loosen up my paintings. I did a workshop by him year this year and had I lot of fun, but I am still struggling to let loose. This was inspired by some flowers in the garden, and I had a lot of fun. It kind of represented the heat and the brightness of the flowers surrounded by a lot of greens and clear blue sky. Watercolor 4X6

Yellow Hibiscus, Saturday, November 1, 2008

I saw this Hibicus from several feet away and it caught my eye. I think I finally have the knack of holding everything and sketching and painting standing up. I always get nervous when people watch over my shoulder and comment, but I handled it yesterday at the Tucson Botanical Gardens. Watercolor 4X6
